During a meeting of experts 2012, it was determined that there was only limited contact and exchange of experience between designers and operators of proving grounds and test tracks in the automotive industry and also the supplier industry. So the idea was born to initiate a workshop where designers and operators could meet, discuss and share their experiences.

Therefore the workshop “Bad Roads Well Built” was established 2013 to offer automotive and construction engineers, test track operators, construction companies and junior engineers (employees and students of Universities) this opportunity.

The workshop should function as an international “meeting point” and “round table” including presentations by well known experts giving an overview on the newest developments of design, construction, safety measures and maintenance for proving grounds and test tracks. The workshop always includes a visit to a test site/proving ground of the otomotive industry and a joint dinner the day before.

The workshop is organized by the Technische Universität (TU) Darmstadt/Germany (Institute of Transportation Infrastructure Engineering). This ensures 100% neutrality and Darmstadt is located in the center of Germany and close to the airport Frankfurt/Main with a very good accessibility from all over the world.

The workshop is organised by two groups, the steering comitee and the organisation team.
